New, New, New…

Under: College, Hillsong

Wow! The time goes by so fast. It already feels like a really long time ago since we changed our location to the other side of the planet. On one side we´re already surprisingly settled in our new home but on the other side everything is still so new. I think so far there was not a day without the overwhelming feeling of thankfulness for all the things we´re able to be a part of.

Here is a little special thing to watch. haha It´s an re-live of the church service in which the church prayed for us as new students. You can watch the whole thing (It´s worth it!) but first check out 1:25:20 and listen/watch closely at 1:27:00 😀

I try to give you an overview of everything that is new for us.

Studies: Our lessons are subdivided into lessons, workshops and tutorials. In the lessons all the first semesters are together and it´s mostly theoretical. In workshops (I think Katrina has no workshops because she is a pastoral :D) I´ll practice to write songs and perform them for my Songwriting Group. Last but not least there are tutorials.
I love tutorials because we´re in our Core Group talking how we can adopt what we heard in lessons, into our lives. Core Groups are pretty small. Katrina has a group with 20 other pastoral students and my group are all the songwriters from this semester. We are only 13 :). I think overall we have approx. 200 students in our intake. There is a tutorial for every subject so quite a lot.

What we really love is, that we have a few lessons like “New Testament”, “Christian Doctrine” & “Spirit Filled Living” together. It´s a great experience to study together as a couple.

Then there is Chapel!!! Chapel is like a church service on Sundays but only for us students. There is worship, a message and sometimes cool Items. On Mondays we have first year chapel for all the first year students. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays is Chapel for all students. It´s is always before lunch and it is so encouraging and uplifting to come before God with all the other students in a regular interval.

And Assessments. There are quite a lot but let´s talk about something else 😉

Practicum: I make it quick and explain more about our practicums another time. Katrina serves at Fuel which is the Youth Group from age 12 to 15. Youth is on Friday evenings and also during the morning services on Sundays. I serve in Production as an Audio Comm on Sundays.

In our house everything is good. We still love our housemates 😉 We had one major problem with the Alarm System today it went on and of repeatedly. The problem was, that we had no idea how to switch it of. We didn´t even know that it was active because no one told us anything about an alarm 😀 So this happened and it was really loud inside and outside (like the police when they drive right next to you). A technician had to come to turn the whole system off (system failure) and now we are best friends with all our neighbours. 😀

There are a lot of other thinks I would like to share with u guys but it´s time for Diner now haha

It would be great if u could pray that we will find a job! We´re already applied for some jobs but nothing fix yet.
We miss our families, our friends and our teams at home but we have not enough time to be sad about it 😉

But we will make time to stay in contact! Feel free to contact us through mail, social media or call 🙂

We love it here. The people are awesome, the college is super interesting and church is phenomenal! In all that Jesus is the one who stands out and shines through!

Oh come on Diner can wait haha I want to share a testimony with u. Yesterday during worship at HillsongMen (see Featured Image) I suddenly recognised, that I feel a heavy weight on me. First I didn´t know what it was but then I realised, that I made myself a lot of pressure over the last couple of months, with expectations what I have to accomplish and in which areas I have to improve. It was like every area what u can think of and so totally unrealistic for a person to fulfil by themself. When I was still thinking about this a speaker came onto the stage and said that everybody who feels discouraged should raise his hand. After I raised my hand a bunch of guys came over to pray for me and suddenly all the pressure dropped. It was amazing I started to let it all go and I wept. I was a total mess but felt so relieved. A few guys spoke freedom into my life and gave me words of comfort and encouragement. It was an absolute blessing. Right now I feel so refreshed because I know I´m already enough because I´m in Jesus and I don´t have to accomplish anything. But if I want to improve I don´t have to do it in my own strength but through the power of Jesus in me. I knew this before and I heard it several times but yesterday it fell deep into my heart and it shall flourish there. Bähm! 🙂

I hope Katrina will find time to complement what I did not cover in this post. Because that is what she does she complements me haha I love you Kate! You´re the best!

Übersetzung:

Wow!
